The Wild Turkeys are not proud! We'll take just about anybody...as long as you're fun to be around. Still, you need to discuss your potential membership with Sam prior to playing with us. You can call him at his JPL extension (4-7403) or e-mail him if you're interested in playing with our team. We focus on fun, but we win more than our fair share of games. We like fun, interesting people. If you're athletic, we're more interested than otherwise, even if you've never played softball. After all, you'll learn the game as you get more experience. Only one requirement... you've got to like to follow the games with beer and pizza!

Once you have joined our team, please fill out the appropriate release form (litigious socitey we live in, you know).

As it is with any group that is participating in an activity for which that participation is either voluntary, without strong motivation, or which interferes with job functions, it becomes a chore to manage the overall regular attendance. In the case of the JPL C-league Softball Program, we have identified several teams that habitually forfeit games or start well after the required game time due to attendance.

The Wild Turkey Softball Team is a well established team with a strong tradition of having never forfeited a game due to lack of players at game time in its 25 year existence. This is due in part to the interest generated by members of the team on a weekly basis, and on the size of the roster that is kept to assure that a full 11 will be available at game time.

Nevertheless, the team has a long standing rule regarding participation, and that is to announce your attendance plans no later than 3:00 PM of the day prior to game day. Either yea or nea is acceptable. No indication is almost worse than changing your mind on game day. Furthermore, we allow announcement in advance by weeks to account for vacations or other conflicts. Also, you are always welcome (and encouraged) to come to the game if you previously announced nea but find yourself suddenly available. We're playing for the opportunity to be with each other, have a little fun, and...oh, that's right, play a little softball.

You are required to either call Sam (x4-7403) or e-mail him with your intentions. Sam makes announcements regarding his substitute in the event he won't be there on game day.

If there is any possibility that the game will be canceled, an announcement will be made at the top of the "Announcements" page (linked on the sidebar to the left of this screen).

Thanks for supporting us by your early declaration of intentions!
