Crawdads Snap Long Losing Streak to Turkeys, 21-12

This was the 35th or 36th game played in the long rivalry between the Wild Turkeys and the Crawdads. The uncertainty dates back to 1981 when the Turkeys first joined C League. Our first recorded game against the Crawdads was in 1982, when they called themselves "IPL". However, our records for our first year, 1981, do not include any of our opponents' names, and it is likely that "IPL" or "Crawdads" or "IPL Crawdads" was one of our anonymous opponents that year. In that case, there would be a 36th game with the Crawdads from 1981 that is not identified in the table of rivalry games.

Through 2002, the Crawdads held the edge over the Turkeys with 11 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties (not counting 1981). But starting in 2003, the Turkeys quietly amassed a 14-game winning streak against our long-time rivals. That streak ended tonight. After one inning, the Turkeys jumped to a 6-1 lead and we were prematurely counting on our next victory. But the resurgent Crawdads asserted command with an 11-run 2nd inning, and then they administered the coup de grace with 6 more runs in the 5th. It was a fun game, but one in which the Crawdads were clearly the better team. Way to go, Crawdads! We'll get you next year!
