Tigers Beat Turkeys, 20-14, To Finish Season

Tonight the Wild Turkeys ended our season with a 20-14 loss to one of the better teams in the league, the Paper Tigers. The Tigers took control of this game from the start, but the Turkeys made things interesting with a 6-run rally in the top of the 3rd to tie the game at 8-8. That didn't last long, however, as the Tigers put up 11 runs in their half of that inning. Into the 4th inning it was getting dark, and the outcome was clearly already decided. But Sam prevailed on Stuart (the Tigers' manager) to play into the 5th inning so the Turkeys could get through our batting order twice. (Thanks, Tigers, for staying a little longer than you needed to; we appreciate that.) In the top of the 5th, the Turkeys launched a modest 4-run rally that made the final score a little more respectable. Our final inning featured Erisa's one and only plate appearance of the season, in which she singled and scored one of our runs. Erisa arrived very late and wasn't planning to play, until Debbie hurt her back and left. Instead, Erisa wound up leading the Turkeys this year (tied with Elizabeth's brother John) with a perfect 1.000 battng average!

Following the game, 25 of us went to Round Table and celebrated our 2010 season. Bill and Carmen took some pictures.
