Recap Game'07-13: Scoresheets | Play-by-Play Summary* | Photos

*To read the play-by-play game summary, you will have to learn Sam's syntax for describing the play-by-play action.

As usual we had a blast playing the Bruisers. Karen's team always seems more pleasant to play than the usual opponent. However, perhaps they won't feel the same way much longer. Once again the Turkeys were victorious...and by a fairly large margin. The game started off slowly with each team getting runners in scoring position only to leave them stranded. The Turkeys soon found their bats (that have been missing over the past two games) and for one inning seemed to be able to hit everything. Things to note this game were not the batting, where Jose seemed to be at bat forever hitting towering foul balls eventually getting on somhow, or the unfortunate rocket that Dave hit that was unfortunately caught for an out, or the silly hits towards the left side that Mark did at every at bat (getting on only once), or the stand-up double Tim hit (when was the last time that happened?), or the good hitting of all our women. No, it was our defense that impressed this reporter the most. Teaming up for two (yes, two!) double plays were Jose to Hannah, to Debbie. The impressive play Sarah demonstrated at third base and shortstop (putting the Bruisers Scott out for the last out of the Game with an inspiring throw from deep in the hole) is also notable. Aside from some interesting calls along both baselines, the game was clean, fun (for the Turkeys at least), and satisfying. Once again (and I'm starting to sound like a broken record) this team has shown that having fun is paramount...success on the field follows. Plenty of pictures (Mark remembered his camera) record this game for posterity.

And as usual there were 12 of us gathering at our regular spot. The pizza, beer, soda, water somehow tasted better than it has in the past several weeks...perhaps because celebrating a victory is more palatable than lamenting a loss.

The box score for the game and the offensive/devensive stats will be posted when Sam reviews and sends them to me. Stay tuned.
